Improvisational Comedy Guru Colin Mochrie


Colin Andrew Mochrie is a Scottish Canadian actor and improvisational comedian. He was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland. After seven years as a regular on the British Channel 4 hit improvisation series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, he appeared in every episode of the American version hosted by Drew Carey on ABC. Mochrie was a guest star of The Drew Carey Show for three episodes: She's Gotta Have It (1999), Drew Live (1999), and Drew Live II (2000). He also played a minor role in the movie The Tuxedo (2002). He starred as the curator of a museum, which Jackie Chan's character frequently visited to see a female employee. At the end of the movie, Mochrie's character was tased. On March 28, 2007, Colin and fellow Whose Line is it Anyway? actor Brad Sherwood hosted part of the Press Correspondents' Dinner with the President. In that event, Brad and Colin featured Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove rapping. Rove's only line was "MC Rove". On August 29, 2007, Colin was announced to host the Canadian version of the game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?. The first of five episodes aired on October 25, 2007. Colin would then become the fifth person of the American Whose Line? cast to become a game show host, after fellow colleagues Wayne Brady, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, and Drew Carey. Mochrie has been nominated for five Canadian Comedy Awards, and has won two. He has also won a Gemini Award and a Writers Guild of Canada award for This Hour Has 22 Minutes. In 1989, Mochrie married Debra McGrath. They have a son, Luke (b. 1990).He became close friends with fellow improv comedian Ryan Stiles after meeting him at Second City.

Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Whose Line Is It Anyway? was a short-form improvisational comedy TV show. Originally a British programme till 1998 and then ABC network began airing a version for the United States audience.
